BCCI has announced the squad for the T20I series against West Indies to be commenced from the 3rd of August 2023. The major highlight from the announcement is that the top-performing players from the team are dropped. Players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja are not included in the team. Hardik Pandya is named as the captain.
The major reason is that BCCI wants the main players to focus on the longer format as the world cup is scheduled to commence from the 5th of October 2023.
India will play 2 Test matches and 3 ODIs with the main players as the matches are crucial for their preparations for CWC 2023.
