Two Times ICC Champions: This team won’t be playing ICC CWC 2023

ICC CWC 2023: The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be hosted by India and it will kick off on the 5th of October 2023. There will be a total of teams 10 teams and each team will play 9 matches each. The top 4 teams qualify for the Semi-finals.

West Indies Out of the 2023 ODI World Cup

A massive heartbreak for the cricketing fans that the West Indies team has been eliminated from CWC 2023 as they faced heavy defeat from Scotland. West Indies managed to qualify for the Super Six but due to a defeat against Scotland, their race for the world cup is over.

Only the top 2 teams(finalists) from the Super Six qualify for the World Cup and the chance for West Indies to reach the final is over. Sri Lanka at the first and Zimbabwe at the second position in the points table with 6 points each. West Indies at 5th position with 0 points.

West Indies have been performing worst in the ICC tournaments after winning T20 WC 2016. After that tournament, WI failed to qualify for 2017 ICC CT, won 2 out of 9 games in CWC 2019, only one win in T20 WC 2021, couldn’t qualify for T20 WC 2022, and now out in qualifiers of CWC 2023.

It’s really sad and disappointing for the team as well as the fans to be not able to participate in the world cup. West Indies have won ICC CWC two times i.e. in the year 1975 and in the year 1979. One of the best teams with quality players won’t be seen in the 2023 CWC.

This tournament is getting tougher every time with new teams and with many young talents.
