The search for 19-year-old Jay Slater, a British teenager who disappeared in Tenerife, has entered its sixth day. Jay, an apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, traveled to the Spanish island for a music festival—his first holiday without his parents. But since he called a friend shortly before 09:00 BST on Monday, saying he was lost and needed water, he hasn’t been heard from.
Jay’s last known location was on a path in the mountainous terrain of the Rural de Teno national park. He had left the group he traveled with in the tourist hotspot of Playa de las Americas, then got into a car with two men he met to drive to the national park in north-west Tenerife. Search teams have been methodically scouring the area, focusing on a ravine and a valley in the village of Masca.
Authorities are working tirelessly to find Jay, but so far, no leads have emerged. His family and friends remain hopeful, while the apartment owner who saw him walk past her property describes the situation as “worrying.” Lancashire Police have offered support to the Spanish Guardia Civil, who are leading the search. Our thoughts are with Jay’s loved ones during this distressing time.
If you have any information about Jay Slater’s whereabouts, please contact the authorities immediately. Let’s come together as a community to bring him home safely.
