Search Continues for Missing American Tourist Albert Calibet in Greece

The picturesque Greek island of Amorgos has become the backdrop for a real-life mystery. Albert Calibet, a 59-year-old retired Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy, vanished without a trace while vacationing there. His family revealed that he had frequented the island since 2009, making his disappearance all the more baffling.

Calibet was last seen heading toward the village of Katapola, following a familiar route from the Asphontylite region. He wore Bermuda shorts and a dark shirt when he disappeared. A missing persons report was filed after he failed to meet up with a friend, leaving loved ones and locals deeply concerned.

Adding to the intrigue, another American tourist has also gone missing in Greece. The unidentified man was last seen at a tavern in Mathraki, west of Corfu Island. His friend discovered the house unlocked, lights on, and air conditioning running, prompting a call to the police. The missing man’s ID and travel documents were gone.

These incidents follow the recent discovery of British television presenter Michael Mosley’s body on the rocky island of Symi. Mosley, 67, had gone for a solitary walk in extreme heat and died of natural causes.

As search and rescue teams comb the rugged terrain, the fate of both Albert Calibet and the other missing tourist remains uncertain. The islanders, who know Calibet well, are rallying together, hoping for a safe resolution. Meanwhile, authorities continue their efforts, determined to unravel the mystery and bring these travelers back to their families.
